Archaeological note which reads, 'North of Roglas [Roe Glas, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] the Rev Alex[ander] Campbell priest Bornish [Bornais] saw a mile of the machair closely cover[ed] over with ciste where the wind blew away the sand.'

Archaeological note about Coilleag Dhonil Ghuirm describing it as being situated between Dun Bhuilg and the shore. Located there are cists full of large bones, pins, dealaga beaga and dealaga fionntrin. Carmichael notes that skeletons were found there with their hands grasping swords and woman with babies in their arms. There are many stone coffins that and there was a lot of sand on top of it.

Scope and Contents Archaeological note about Mor nan Ceann U-i-nieasain/Naonisein, [Caibeal Moire nan Ceann or Caibeal Bhrianain, Uineasan, Bhatarsaigh/Vatersay] describing it as a burial place '29 x 11 [feet]' and the caibeal [chapel] in which people were buried as having fallen down. The size and composition of the ruins are described as is its situation and the surrounding area including details such as 'once a bury[ing] place now a rabbit warren...an island at high water and at low forms part of the Island...

Archaeological note and diagram of Leaba mhiosachain at Craoineval [Leaba a' Mhiosachan, Craonabhal/Craonaval, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist] described as being halfway up the north west shoulder of the hill. Carmichael describes a heather-covered circle which 'seems underground' in the centre of which is a cist. At the end of the leaba is another cist. The dimensions of the leaba are noted on the diagram and noted as being outside on the lower side is a standing stone.

Archaeological note about Cladh Chriosd [Cladh Chrìosd, Bhatarsaigh/Vatersay] describing a stone there as having had a cross cut into it and that there is a very small hut where the bishop lived with a square stone on which he rested his book. The story describes how people used young cattle into the hut but that none ever came out alive.
